Fall In Love With Me  episode 5 -Tao Zi:” Because you’re important to me.”

Previous episodes was all about giving Tian Xing the chance to spend some quality time with Le Si. This week it’s Xiao Lu’s turn for a little one-on-one time with our leading lady and it comes as no surprise to anyone that Le Si finds herself falling for Tian Xing’s sweeter half.

You know, I’m really trying to find something more to talk about than the budding romance between Xiao Lu and Le Si but quite honestly, that’s really the only thing to talk about this week. We picked up where we left off last week, with Tian Xing tying Le Si’s shoe before heading home and while that one gesture of kindness kept Tian Xing in the forefront of Le Si’s thoughts for all of three seconds, the rest of this episode was all about Xiao Lu.

First we have Xiao Lu, the poor and lonely bachelor whose barren apartment invokes all kinds of feelings of sympathy from Le Si. Using these feelings as an excuse to spend some quality time with Xiao Lu is fine with me when it comes to providing us will an endless supply of cuteness. Watching Xiao Lu dig through the bag of goodies Le Si brought for him was adorable, as was the cupcake baking scene. Though honestly, the mom in me cringed during their food fight as all I could think about was how awful of a mess they were making and who would ultimately have to clean it up. Giant mess aside, I did enjoy watching Xiao Lu and Le Si bond in that moment but not nearly as much as I enjoyed their moment at the amusement park.

Someone please tell me I’m not crazy when I say that  Xiao Lu’s birthday celebration for Le Si was one of the sweetest, most adorable acts of love, ever! I know that to pull off such a meaningful event for Le Si, Xiao Lu had to go a little bit creeper and read through her diary but the result was a birthday surprise Le Si will never forget, so I’d say it was worth it. On top of that, Le Si has enough common sense to realize that planning an event that includes an endless fireworks display and a fake blizzard has to cost quite a bit, so now maybe she’ll believe Xiao Lu when he says he isn’t actually poor, which would be good because it would be nice to believe Le Si was actually falling for Xiao Lu out of love and not just sympathy. I’m still not convinced this isn’t actually the basis for Le Si’s feelings for Xiao Lu but maybe this grand event will help push her further from sympathy and more towards actual affection.

The good news is, if Xiao Lu’s birthday surprise doesn’t help Le Si figure out her feelings for him, having him suddenly become deathly ill ought to do the trick. I love how the smallest things in dramas produce the most dramatic events and in this case, multiple run-ins with a couple of water guns is enough to land Xiao Lu in bed with a fever for two days. Poor thing! It’s a good thing he’s got Le Si there to nurse him back to health. Nothing makes a person feel better faster than having someone shove a thermometer in your mouth every five minutes and forcing you to eat nasty soup. poor Xiao Lu! No matter how ridiculous the circumstances surrounding his sudden illness were, he really was miserable and really don’t know how he put up with Le Si’s puttering around as graciously as he did. I would have been much less pleasant, had I been in his shoes, but I suppose that’s why he’s the hero of this story and I’m just an observer. Then again, having the girl he likes constantly fretting over him and trying her best to take care of him, has to make Xiao Lu feel good in a different way so I suppose he’s willing to put up with much more than he might have otherwise. It’s just lucky for Xiao Lu that Uncle Fu decided to take a couple of days off at such a critical moment, otherwise he might have been stuck with Uncle Fu nursing him back to health and that wouldn’t have produced anywhere near the number of heart flutters that I got while watching Le Si and Xiao Lu.

By the time Xiao Lu is on the mend, he and Le Si have come to admit their feelings for each other and while it make seem like a shock to Miao Miao, it’s not at all surprising to anyone else. We all knew it was only a matter of time before Le Si gave into her growing feelings for Xiao Lu but I have to admit, I wasn’t really expecting her to fall for him this early in the game. We’re only five episodes in and already Xiao Lu and Le Si are admitting their feelings and holding hands which makes me think that a whole lot more of this drama is going to be about Tian Xing trying to steal Le Si from himself. It’s pretty obvious Tian Xing can’t live as Xiao Lu forever so at some point he’s going to have to let his sweet alter-ego go but he’s not going to be able to do that while she’s in love with Xiao Lu and I’m quite anxious to see how Tian Xing goes about wooing a girl who’s fallen for “someone else.” Next week’s preview makes it seems like we’re finally getting to the meat of this story but you know how previews go, they like to make things look a whole lot more exciting than they really are, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
